Gurung is also a passionate photographer. He mainly does Fine Art Photography.
Feeling very happy on being awarded with certificate, trophy and Rs. 10,000/- of cheque on such a respected and prestigious all Nepal photo contest he recounts,
“I along with our other photography lovers were in Bhanu Memorial Park at Ghansikuwa for a photography walk and saw this small-cutie-beautiful smiley girl with dimple adding more attraction on her face playing with other kids at the park and instantly went clicking her. But never had thought of this end result and sending it to any photo competitions either.”
This has not only led me feel happy but pushed my passion in photography to another level. Talking to Damauli F.M. “I kindly want to share this recognition with that photographed girl and give her half the prized price but am totally unaware of where she lives” and humbly requested to find the photographed girl as the media is quick & strong possible way on finding her. His friend Ben K. Grg who had gone along with him for the award announcement ceremony profoundly said,
“I was fully sure that he would be awarded and to be the part of it went with him. Getting 3rd that also in a contest vying from all over Nepal not bad though had hoped a little better result.”
After four days the pictured girl, Alina Acharya, was found through Damauli F.M. and held a small gathering at Florid Human Resources office with reporter Pawan along with Gurung’s family members and staffs – handing the sum and gifts to her.
Later it came to know that the girl’s house was near to that photograph spot and studying at Shree Shanti Varsha School, Chapaghat, in class I. As Gurung came to know about her excellence in studies he bundled necessary stationary along with hand cash of Rs. 4,000/-.
He really was grateful to Suman Shrestha RJ at Damauli F.M. and Mr. Pawan Poudel senior active reporter of Damauli Khabar and Damauli F.M. and couldn’t stop thanking for all the efforts he contributed through media coverage on finding the girl. And happy Gurung said,
“I really had wanted to do something for the social cause by one or other way and this has been my first step. Hope to do more in future.”
