2013 SAFF semifinal match Nepal vs Afghanistan live screening on projector in Damauli
Ugh! not again losing with the same team Afghanistan like in last time with same scoreline 1-0 shattered the hope to reach the Finale of this years SAFF championship in semi-final match. But the scene here in Damauli at the Fewa Finance junction where there was screening of the match by projector on big screen arranged by Tanahun Football Student Association was awesome.
The crowd was big and the football lovers some wearing t-shirts representing Nepal and flags in their hand applauded each and every ball touched by our Nepali team. Despite one nil down still cheering up people looked positive on bouncing back with score and didn’t seem to be down till the end. Alas the game ended losing it and the people were seen very sad and in disbelief standing still.
Hordes of chances & 2 successive penalty given back-to-back and not getting pass through Afghan. goalkeeper, getting out from this years SAFF championship in semi-final match was very harsh time for the Nepali football team and fans.
As we were already down in 10 minutes of the starting time the team didn’t seem to be in under pressure but kept on pushing hard for the score. There were more attacking and more chances that one could see and still fought till the dying seconds tremendously but seemed like this time the luck was not in our favor. Great save from the opponent keeper in dying seconds from the touchline area headed by Anil Gurung also summons it.
Bravo Rohit Chand, at the same time sorry that he put on guts to take penalty on those high pressure minutes taking all the responsibility but as said luck was not on our side couldn’t capitalize it those two precious back-to-back penalty.
Looking at the teams form, wonderful playing and their morale high everyone were expecting high that we CAN reach the Finale and get the hand on the Cup which let the most Nepali football fans down and showed anger towards the team but what we all should know is our team has come far better and giving good performances in these recent years than before also more new young prominent players are coming up like Bimal Gharti Magar, the hero in match with Pakistan, showing brilliant performances in his just 16 years of age on every matches he played . So we should not count this loss and pressure the players but feel proud on the achievement of passing the group stage defeating the higher level countries like India and Bangladesh and rising up in these recent years.
