Flashback of “6th HairanS Cup 2013/2069”
“Hairans Cup 2013/2069” provided the moments of joy, excitement and thrill to the ardent football followers. As every good thing has to come its end this year’s premier event also ultimately signed off by bidding goodbye on 20th March. Closing ceremony remained the same as the opening without any extravaganza and lavishness in it. This week-long football festival no doubt captured the imagination of the general public catering them with the best football of the region.
The first day of the tournament which usually sets the tone of tournament turned out to be a total disaster. Opening day got disrupted due to incessant rainfall. Nevertheless of the first day wash out, the game got underway on the very next day as per schedule. Soon more drama was to unfold. Firstly, Nawa United Club (Khairenitar), the winner of recently concluded Tanahun Football League, Vyas Youth Club (Vyas-11) as well as the organizer Hairans Club all were shown the exit door from the group stage. This shocking result came as a huge blow to the football fans and the pundits who were expecting one of them to clinch the title.
As the competition moved on, the level and quality also picked up steadily. Every team in the knock out stage tried their level best to maintain their class, toughness and superiority.
Nava Yuwa (Highschooltar) which had been labelled invincible for being the champion of Hairans Cup 3 times in a row couldn’t show the same form and composure this time around. New Generation club, the newly formed club participating first time in any event from Gunadi place, sent them packing out of this tournament. Perhaps the technique, class and the game was too much for the defending champion Nawa Yuwa. Rest of teams namely Dovan Club (Bhadgaun), Friendship Club (Belchautara) and Sukla Gandaki club (Dulegauda) all battled hard to get through.
In the end the result indicated that New Generation (Gunadi) and Sukla Gandaki (Dulegauda) were the lucky ones to play in the final. In addition to it, history was going to be scripted this time as a team outside of Damauli will be crowned champion for the first time. Many had expected the final game going down to the wire and be tightly contested but the final scoreline disappointed everyone. It turned out to be one side affair where New Generation with outstanding performance gave a bundle of joy to passionate followers by comfortably sealing the victory with the score of 4-1.
